A Sunday Scroll: #frontporch

It’s Sunday again and we’re checking out #frontporch inspiration photos from the gram. As someone from the South, we take front porches seriously. Truth be told… I think we do them right. If you want to join me on my Sunday Scroll I’ll show you some of my favorite front porch finds and what makes them so spectacular.

Black and white does it right!

It’s very hard to go wrong with a white house and a black door. This timeless traditional look will never go out of style and leave you with the opportunity to decorate for every holiday without worrying about contrasting colors.

Planters, planters, and more planters…

It doesn’t matter if you have an expansive grand porch or just a portico, if you can flank your front door with beautiful planters filled with greenery or flowers you will see an instant impact on your curb appeal.

Double porches make me happy!

Nothing says southern charm like a gorgeous double porch. It can make even a smaller house seem so grand. With multiple columns and a couple rocking chairs you can create a warm welcoming entrance to your home.

Farmhouse front porch!

Exposed beams, painted brick, highlighted by gas lanterns just scream farmhouse style. If you can find some natural elements (like a stained wooden door or a pretty wooden bench) to incorporate into your front porch design you can easily achieve this look as well.

Small can be grand too…

These homes with small front porches are doing it right! From intricate trim details to a perfectly placed gas lantern, I am drooling over these fantastic entryways.

Just swinging around.

When you have a big front porch, it gives you options… And if I had my choice, my first pick would be a porch swing. Not only is a swing practical for seating, but it’s fun. There is nothing better than swinging around with a cold drink on a warm summer evening.

Lanterns for days…

Gas lanterns, electric lanterns, or even candlelight lanterns can create a soft glow that illuminates your home in its most flattering form. If you are looking to update an older space, consider swapping out the light fixtures for a big statement. I always ere on the side of bigger when it comes to lighting. It’s like the jewelry on the house, a little extra bling never hurt anyone!

Seating for everyone.

I’ve had some great times just visiting with friends and family out on the porch. Making sure you have enough seating to comfortably entertain makes your front porch that much more inviting. When they are as pretty as these bright coral chairs, you won’t have to ask anyone twice to join you!

Color is your friend.

These colorful homes out of New Orleans make me want to pack my bags and head to the Big Easy! Color can have such an emotional impact on your home. From vibrant pinks and yellows to cool blues and soft pastels, you can immediately update your space with a coat of paint on your front door. And the even better part is that the color options are endless!
