Lately I’ve had beach houses on the brain. Maybe it’s the warmer weather, maybe it’s living at the beach, maybe it’s just fun to day dream about spending endless days on the white sand listening to the waves… And of course that thought just wanders back to my “beach house” design ideas. Specifically the artwork that is currently inspiring me! So naturally I am going to share my beach house artwork wish list with you.
It’s crazy how one particular image, idea, encounter, etc. can spark the flame that fuels an entire design plan. Well if any of the images below indicate where my brain is now… the best is yet to come. The bright colors and playful images lend themselves to slower, longer days spent in the sun (and a home that reflects that)!
The unexpected…Gray Malin
I don’t even know how my Instagram scrolling brought me to this incredible artist, but I am so glad it did. My recent discovery of Gray Malin (@graymalin) and his photography has been a highlight for me (and hopefully now for you too.) It’s pretty cool that he got his start like a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs by selling his work in a local market on Sundays. And to be able to turn it into an international brand with high profile celebrity (and now Royal) clients is so amazing.
Want even better news?? All of his work is available online for purchase at www.graymalin.com so you can bring one of these babies home yourself!
Umbrellas from above.
There is something so intriguing to me about the geometric pattern created by beach umbrellas. Gray Malin’s “Italian Geometric Series” offers some incredible images that when paired with a classic breezy beach house design can be just the added touch you need. A few of my favorites below:

Diagonal Stripes, Italy – Gray Malin

White Beach Club, Italy / Gray Malin

Star Mint Umbrellas, Italy / Gray Malin

Out of Office / Gray Malin
Whimsical and outside the box.
When is the last time you spotted a giraffe at the pool. Not only are the photos that Gray takes playful and unique but the vibrance of the images just make me happy. I want to create an entire gallery wall from all these fun photos.

I love these bathing beauties. Reminiscent of old Palm Beach, these styled photos will add a little glamour to any room.

The Abstract… Teil Duncan Henley
As a Southern gal myself, I love discovering other lovely ladies that have such amazing talents that I admire so much. Side note: I think the more we can support each other, the better this world will be!!! Teil Duncan is a rare find. I love her ability to capture such life and emotion in her artwork. It truly amazes me how she can create incredible images in such a unique way. Abstract art is something that I wish I could master (hint: I haven’t yet). I really think your brain has to be wired a certain way to see the final product and to be able to create the composition to get you there.
Teil has been able to take all subject matter (landscapes, portraits, animals, movement studies, etc) and put her special touch on it. You can check out her site www.teilduncan.com and see her amazing work. Even though some of the items are listed as sold, if you get a chance to follow her on Instagram (@teilart), she will announce new releases from time to time.
All those dreamy colors …
The bright pinks, lime greens, and aqua blue tones just scream beach house.
